Free HAI Home Automation Training in SA - Feedback

Mr Kurt Carlson in charge of New England Sales in USA(CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT, Ontario - Eastern Time Zone,
Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Labrador) conducted the training in both venues and
excelled in his "hands on" approach to the course material.
The course participants ranged from the novice to the highly experienced system integrators and Kurt
managed to challenge all of us at our various levels which is by no means an easy task.
Home work assignments were an extra that many of us didn't expect.
The feedback from the course participant was very positive and appreciation was expressed for the
effort made by HAI to bring this much needed training to our shores.
We were also privileged to have the Director of International Sales and Marketing
- Allison Read, who made herself available at all the training venues to welcome participants
and answer any questions concerning HAI policies, procedures and any other general enquiries.
Both Allison and Kurt took time out after the course to visit HAI automation projects in various
stages of completion and are planning to relay this information of how we do things in Southern Africa
back to HAI head office in New Orleans

New Lasar Scan Detector for Early Warning Intruder Detection
The REDSCAN RLS-3060 is an innovative laser scan detector.
It can detect a moving object's size, speed, and distance from the detector and process
that information with a unique algorithm, which results in high-reliability detection of people
with minimal false alarms. The detector can also be mounted vertically or horizontally according
to the application and site conditions.

When vertical detection area is selected, the RLS-3060 creates a 60m detection area that functions like
an invisible wall. With four outputs for remote video applications and four fully programmable
detection areas linked with these outputs, the RLS-3060 is the ideal detector for controlling PTZ
cameras.

SpeakerCraft's Revolutionary new Audio / Video Distribution System to be launched
SpeakerCraft, the world leader in custom installed loudspeakers and electronics,
announced a ground-breaking new A/V distribution and control system today.
Called Nirv, the new system will feature several innovations that will obsolete many of the current offerings on the market.
"Being allowed to create the product from the ground up with no legacy system requirements gave us incredible design freedom,"
says Jason Craze, SpeakerCraft's Director of Electronic Development, who headed up the project.
"We wanted the system to be powerful, flexible, simplistic to program and to operate with unparalleled audio and
video quality. Our team has hit it out of the park in every area."
The system has a modular architecture instead of a massive central hub design. This means the dealer will only need to buy the
pieces necessary for the specific system he has designed and upgrading or expanding is as simple as adding what is needed to the network.
On screen programming is so easy and intuitive it can be accomplished on-site by virtually anyone on the project team.
All media, data, control, and communication signals are distributed through a single CAT5 cable making system wiring both simple and cost efficient.
Beyond standard A/V distribution, the system also integrates theatre surround sound, home automation, and page / intercom into one easy-to-manage package.
"It's the first system of its kind that allows the user to own the experience instead of having the experience dictated by the equipment," said Jeremy Burkhardt,
SpeakerCraft's President. "The system is almost transparent bringing content and control to the fingertips of the user through either touchpanel keypads or
while navigating a GUI on the video screen. The remote single-handedly takes the complexity out of owning this type of system. You have to experience it to truly
understand what a landmark product this is."
That experience will first be available at the Nirv dome in the SpeakerCraft booth at the CEDIA Expo. Dealers will be able to see a full demonstration and talk to
members of the design team. Product will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2010.
About SpeakerCraft. SpeakerCraft, established in 1976, devoted itself for more than a decade to the design and development of architectural loudspeakers and
became known as the prime OEM for many well-known, in-wall speaker brands in the field.
In marketing its own brand, now one of the widest lines of architectural speakers and electronics in the industry, SpeakerCraft brings with it years of experience
and a dedication to dealer satisfaction.

The ERS 1.0 Kit is an accessory that adds the iPhone interface function to SpeakerCraft’s popular MZC platform.
By connecting the MZC to the home’s existing WiFi network the iPhone becomes a remote that can control the system from anywhere inside or outside the house.

Its reach is only limited by the home’s wireless network.
By taking advantage of the iPhone’s Safari® browser there is no necessity to download or program the iPhone itself. In fact there is essentially no programming required at all for existing MZC systems. The unit is literally plug-n-play.
